Hi! My name is Rosa and today is not my first day working at Harvest Gold, but this is my first blog post. When I'm not working I like spending time on the lake, playing tennis, and hiking with my dog.

Since I've been working at Harvest Gold for a few weeks now, I have some favorite pieces that I wanted to share with you!

Right now one of my favorite landscape paintings in the gallery is "Unless You See It You Won't Believe It: Sunset Timber Island" by Jeanne Ouellette. This 12" x 28" oil painting is actually a diptych meaning that it is comprised of two panels. The horizontal lines going through the water are what draw me to this painting. They allow Ouellette to depict how waves change what the water reflects and they also add the stunning pinks and oranges of the sky into the lake portion of the painting.

Another current favorite of mine is "Falling Water" by Sandra Josephine Bell. While I like her more realistic works as well, there is just something about this piece that beckons me each time I walk past it. Every time I see it, I see something different in the swirls of the water. Today, I could see the head of a horse which reminded me of the hippocampi of Greek mythology. 

Finally, a non-painting favorite of mine is "Questioning Mind Grande" by Michael Alfano. This bronze resin sculpture is not only interesting to look at, but also makes you think about how our minds work and why we are always questioning things.

Hi! I'm Anna Gerner, and I just started working at Harvest Gold Gallery! I love biking, hiking, and skiing, as well as painting and art in general. Before working here, I loved coming in to admire all the art, and here are a few pieces that really stand out to me. 

The first of my favorites is this oil painting titled "Echo Lake Serenity" by Varvara Harmon. There's something about this painting, which is quite large at 24" x 48", that draws my eye to it every time. 

Another of my favorite pieces of art is this pulp painting titled "Independence Day" by Roland Simard. Roland casts individual sheets of paper and puts pieces of pulp in bit by bit to form these amazing pieces. Unlike traditional painting, he can't blend colors after he places on the pieces of pulp, so he mixes all the colors beforehand. I'd never seen anything like this pulp painting before, and I'm so impressed by the process of making it. 

The final of my favorite pieces is this sterling silver hummingbird cutout pendant. I actually have this, and wear it often. It is the perfect size and great for necklace layering. There are many cutout pendants available here, so it was very easy to find one perfect for me!

With the wonderful beginning of summer and the flowers in full bloom, Harvest Gold Gallery had our first plein air paint-out of the season. On June 26th, Rebecca Klementovich showed off her skills by creating a beautiful painting looking out at the views from the gallery. She brought along a great turn out of painters and customers alike!

Plein airs are a fan favorite event held here in Center Lovell, where each weekend this summer we feature a local artist to get inspired by the gorgeous views and paint a one-of-a kind piece of art. All of the paintings/art created during a plein air will be available for sale in the gallery as well! Plein airs are very special to us at HGG, as viewers and participants get a unique experience with the artist, all while enjoying a nice summer day.

Rebecca grew up in New Hampshire, but as a young adult she attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, New York. She worked for 20+ years as a fashion art director and textile designer.  During this time she began to love color and what it can convey to the viewer.  This becomes apparent when viewing her art, she strategically places colors in a way that accentuates the view she’s conveying. Eventually she moved back to New Hampshire and is now a resident of Dover. She is the co-founder of Femme Fatales of the North- the goal of which is to show women making art and to share the art they make.

We are so grateful to have been able to host Rebecca at the gallery last weekend. Harvest Gold is excited to get to celebrate a new artist every weekend this summer and have beautiful new work to display in the gallery! New Lacey Pots have arrived just in time for summer! These beautiful ceramic vases have the obvious purpose of holding flowers or twigs, but alone they also make a statement. The new style we received comes in three different sizes- "itty bitty," "mini" and a larger make. Not only do they come in many different colors, but there are several different patterns: poka-dots, floral, swirly and striped.

Due to the small size of the mini pots, they're the perfect decor for a small work space or coffee table. You could even keep it on a bed stand with some flowers to make your area more lively!

The mini size is somewhat the middle ground between the itty bitty vases and the large vases, it's big enough to be able to draw attention to itself while still being small enough to add to a smaller space.

Largest size in dark green with swirls 

This style would make a great centerpiece for a table or on a shelf, these pieces are attentions grabbers. The large size allows enough room for an overflowing bouquet of flowers to be placed inside. 

Maine silk artist, Megan Reiniger, recently visited the Gallery to drop off some of her new designs. As child Megan had an interest in art but it wasn't until 2016 that she taught herself how to dye silk, a couple years later she began selling her pieces. All of her designs are inspired by nature because that's where she goes to recharge her creativity.

Silk art calls for an extreme amount of precision, so even for the most qualified artist, making mistakes is inevitable.

Megan admitted that she can be a perfectionist when it comes to her art, but now instead of getting frustrated at a mistake she turns it into part of the art.

She told us that "inevitably something happens and it takes on it’s [the painting's] own personality.” Clearly, Megan has found the secret to silk painting because she work is mesmerizing. 

Hi, I'm Catie and I'm newly employed at Harvest Gold Gallery! In my free time I enjoy being outside, reading and making art. Even though I'm new to Harvest Gold Gallery, I've found so many art pieces interesting, but my top three favorites are:

"Spring Beauty" by Carol Novotne 

This painting really caught my attention because of the landscape and style; so ethereal. 

"Emerald Pool" by Diane Scott

I've been to Emerald Pool several times; this painting really captures the beauty of this location unlike any photo I've seen. Looking at this piece transports you to Emerald Pool. 

"Sunset Daises" by Varvara Harmon

Daises are one of my favorite flowers, so this painting immediately caught my eye. The way she adds so much life into her paintings truly makes them breath-taking, especially this painting. 

Local Maine Artist Jeanne Oulette has brought in some new works to the gallery for Spring and Summer. Jeanne is focused on interpreting the landscape of Maine in oil paint. Hi! I'm Charlie Anderson, a new person working at Harvest Gold Gallery. I'm a high school student, and this is officially my first job. I love to ski, read, and of course, I love art! It's my first day, and I'm very interested by all of the art showcased, specifically the paintings! 3 pieces in particular stuck out to me, which are: 

"Loon on Rough Waters" by William Janelle. It's very intricate, and anything with animals is a little biased

"Lupines in Sun Rays" by Varvara Harmon. I like the detail, and the sun rays are very realistic and pretty.

"Heartbeat" by Gay Freeborn. As I've said, animals for me are very biased when it comes to art. It's a very realistic and cute deer.
