Lovell Old Home Days 2018

A big weekend is coming up for Lovell: Lovell Old Home Days! This weekend of fun and festivities is an annual tradition for the town and is a time for year-rounders and summer folk alike to celebrate all things Lovell! Lovell Old Home Days is taking place this year from Friday, July 20th through Sunday, July 22.

Kicking off the weekend is Harvest Gold Gallery’s own event, our 17th Annual Artist Reception and Open House! Occurring Friday the 20th, from 3:00 to 6:00pm, Harvest Gold is proud to kick off the weekend with an evening of fine art and good friends! Join us as we celebrate local artists, and get together for fine art, good cheer, and delicious hors-d’oeuvres provided by Severance Lodge Club! The Gallery is also celebrating turning 21, so this event is doubling as a birthday party for us.

Happening Saturday is the town parade, beginning at 9:00am and winding down Main Street to the sports fields, and the 5k race which leads runners through some of the most beautiful areas in town. Cheer them on if you see them go by! And remember that several roads through town will be closed for several hours because of the parade and race, and so be sure to use the detours posted.

Also Saturday is the fun fair at the Lovell Rec. sports fields. Fun for the whole family, the fair is home to several booths for local attractions like the Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library, live music, a tent with delicious lunch foods, and games and races for the kids!

Concluding the weekend on Sunday is the Lovell Historical Society’s Summer Fair! From 10:00 to 3:00 head on over to the Lovell Historical Society to see booths set up by many of your favorite local craftsmen and businesses. Beginning at 11:00 the LHS is hosting an auction of gifts and items unique to Lovell, including a beautifully handcrafted sterling silver cuff bracelet donated by Harvest Gold! The bracelet is a 1” Perfectly Puddled Wave cuff, and Bill will custom size it for the winner.

Have a great time at Lovell Old Home Days this year! Love from Lovell!

Summer Love is in the Air!

Summer Love Is in the Air at Harvest Gold Gallery!

Harvest Gold is excited to share that over the past week, Lynda and Bill celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary! And, like any doting parent, we are over the moon to announce that both of the Harvest Gold kids, Carley and Morgan, have become engaged! Carley met her fiancée Jake in Europe, while both were on study abroad programs at Stetson University. They fell in love while riding the trains, and sharing music together!  Carley and Jake have spent they last few months working as freelance photographers and journalists. They have travelled all over the world together, from L.A to Switzerland to Southeast Asia, and are returning home to Lovell this summer. Morgan met Alison while working here in Maine: at the Saco River, to be exact! Over the years they have moved back and forth between Maine and California (Lake Tahoe), and have built a happy life together, with a much-loved dog named Scout. While neither of the happy couples has yet to set a date, we know they will be over the moon to be together no matter what the future may bring.

From left to right: Lynda and Bill, Morgan and Alison, Jake and Carley

Lynda built both Carley’s and Alison’s engagement rings, working with their beaus to produce custom rings from heirloom gemstones and gold. We would love to work with you in a similar process to create custom jewelry to help you build your perfect wedding!

What is the process of building a custom ring?

If you have never customized jewelry before, the process can seem daunting. With so many options as to gemstones, metals, shapes, sizes, and price, it can be easy to get overwhelmed. However, we are here to make the process joyful and stress-free for you! Sit down with Lynda either in shop or through a video call, and we can talk you through the entire process. From initial remarks about your desired look, we will answer all your questions and guide you through the process of building your ring so that it is beautiful and long lasting, all while sticking to your budget.

We can recycle your old family jewelry into something new and beautiful, just for you!

Here are some of our suggestions for a beautiful wedding, no matter the time of year!

Personalized weddings bands made from heirloom or recycled gold, or with local stones to represent the deep, earthly bond between you and your loved one. From rings that surround your finger in a band of never-ending mountains, to braided rings that symbolize your deep ties and connections to your other, the perfect ring for you can be found here at Harvest Gold!

Light and airy bridal jewelry, such as these stunning intertwined 14k gold White Mountain bracelets, to compliment the bride’s smile and to reflect the joy of the occasion. These bracelets can be easily dressed up or down to suit any style of celebration!

Or perhaps a set of two wave bracelets, that when worn together, make calming curves of infinity around your wrist? Representing your never ending love and devotion, these cuffs will become a family heirloom that you can pass down and love for decades to come.

A hand hammered 14k gold linked necklace for the mother of the bride! On this special day, mom deserves to be recognized for her undying love and support of the happy couple.

These sterling silver charm necklaces make the perfect gifts for bridesmaids! We love the two pine trees on this charm representing the soon-to-be-married couple. This pendant will be a sweet and everlasting reminder of this wonderful occasion!

And come to us for all your wedding gift needs! From beautiful handblown glass, paintings of every medium, to rustic wooden sculpture, the perfect heartfelt gift can be found within our walls or gardens.

Whatever your wedding style, we hope that we at Harvest Gold can help you make your wedding sparkle just a little bit more!

                                                                             —Lynda and Bill

Spring in Center Lovell

Original publish date: Mar. 22nd, 2012

The warm weather has been helping our creative side.
Nice Celestial white gold earrings inspired by extra time to star gaze in the warm evenings.
Toasting the snow on a warm evening, we think about the seasons changing.  It is easy to understand why the Tree of Life design is loved by so many.
Also loved this season has been our braided bands.  We've made new widths available to accommodate more finger needs.
This one is our newest wide three strand braid with 14k rose, green and yellow gold.

Thanks to the nice couple who needed something a little different.

Bi-color Maine tourmaline in pink and yellow seems as rare as an 80 degree day  in mid March in Maine!
Rose gold flexible cuff tanning on the rocks, almost to hot to handle!  Is this really mid-March?
Morning view at Harvest Gold Gallery mid March, overlooking Kezar Lake and the White Mountains.
Some Favorite New Custom Pieces

Original publish date: Jan. 6th, 2012

This was a great season for custom pieces.  These Tree of Life rings are made in white gold with the sapphire gems from the girls' Great-grandmother's ring which was broken beyond repair, made by their mother for Christmas.  Such a cool way to remember our ancestors.

These sapphire earrings were custom designed for comfortable everyday wear that looks amazing.

This heavy sterling silver Tree of Life dog tag style pendant with heavy cable chain was perfect for the young man turning 18 on his high school graduation day.  Congrats Chase :)
The crinkle cuff has been Bill's new idea.  So far he has been very successful with this new narrow version in yellow gold with the matching earrings.

And of course there has to be one picture of Kezar Lake in Center Lovell Maine overlooking the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  So pretty.
Wishing Everyone a Happy and Peaceful 2012!

The View in Center Lovell

Original publish date: Dec. 18th, 2011

People ask us all the time, "Do you ever get tired of the view?"  And our answers is always: "Never." Bill's new sterling silver cuff frames Kezar Lake nicely, don't you think?
We thought we would just share a few beautiful moments we have witnessed this season here in Center Lovell on Kezar Lake overlooking the White Mountains of western Maine and New Hampshire.
The Mountain ring in 14k white gold and the White Mountains, could you ask for a better background?
The mountains in this sculpture carved out of a moose antler by artist Sherri Medley, mirror the horizon.
Live edge wooden picture frames and bowls, made in America, and the skyline make a natural combo.
Early morning mist and the pink sky,
Add the full moon and some sparkly white snow,
And a new design is born!
Pastel colors with an early season dusting of the white stuff make you feel the frost in the air.
Bill's new Krinkle cuff in white gold is available in yellow gold and sterling silver too.
We always are checking out the view and will keep you posted on as many beautiful moments as we can.  Thanks for a great year here at Harvest Gold Gallery.
Peach of a Day in Center Lovell!

Original publish date: Nov. 8th, 2011

What a peach of a day it was in lovely Lovell.  The temps were up in the 60's and the sun was shining.  We took the opportunity to take a few photos of some of our favorite glass pieces.  With everything American made we feel fortunate to have some museum quality pieces up here in downtown Center Lovell.
Orient and Flume is one of the best in America.  They have been blowing beautiful quality pieces for over 20 years in California.

The paper weight collection of Orient and Flume is a great addition to any space.

We have to put a pair of earrings in because we make jewelry here and there is always a new item!  Today we made a cool pair of Dangle Dot earrings in sterling silver.  So fun when they move and catch the light.

The acorn vase is one of Orient and Flume's signature pieces.  The layers of colors and detail of the design is in harmony with the formal form of the vase. Truly a collectable.
Exquisitely American made, available right here in beautiful downtown Center Lovell, Maine.
New Custom Jewelry at Harvest Gold Gallery!

Original publish date: Oct. 27th, 2011

I know most of you want to see the view so here it is.  The top of Eastman Hill, in Center Lovell Maine overlooking Kezar Lake and the White mountains.  Now, here are some recent custom pieces we've made.

This Sterling silver charm bracelet was made to order.  She picked from over 20 different designs of hand cut images to make her bracelet special.

This woman wanted a ring she could wear and wear every where!  She was so happy :)

This one was so much fun I had to post 2 pictures.  She found the Maine tourmaline in Bethel Maine herself and we made the setting in sterling silver.

The light house design comes from a wonderful story of love and romance.  A couple came to visit the Harvest Gold "factory"v after having collected our jewelry for over 25 years of their marriage.  She always loved light houses we were happy to make a new design.

Friends from my youth with special days to celebrate.

A wonderful fun piece made of Maine tourmaline and 14k yellow gold for one of our favorite people.

Of course, there has to be a wedding band.  So pretty with a diamond for every child.

This ring is a recycling of a beautiful blue topaz reset into sterling silver with a 14k rose gold accent.

And one last shot of the view atop Eastman Hill.  Thanks for all the fun custom opportunities.
New Sterling Silver Charms at Harvest Gold!

Original publish date: Sept. 28th, 2011

I love it when my customers inspire new designs.  This week we had a horse lover come in.
It came out so good I made one for my niece's birthday!
Maine is very inspiring too.
We have some pretty celestial designs and even an angel.
My sister's coffee shop was a good reason enough for this design but my Grandmother always had a cup of coffee going, just 1/2 a cup.
Two hearts and the moon and star are always favorites.
I love how they look all together!

Harvest Gold Jewelers Lynda Rasco and Bill Rudd are showing their beautiful jewelry at the Gallery for the 15th season in Center Lovell.

IMG_7679.jpg

Lynda and Bill started their jewelry company in 1985.  They were living on Knight’s Hill Road with their new baby and Lynda was making jewelry in the basement.  Bill was a chef at that time in Fryeburg at the Oxford House Inn.  After his son was born Bill decided that he would be able to spend more time with his family if he joined the jewelry business with Lynda.

cat17.jpg

He started with the sales.  The first day he brought home a bottle of champagne to celebrate his success. Of course the wine cost more than the profit!

cat9.jpg

He learned quickly both from Lynda who grew up making jewelry in Lincoln, MA and from his jeweler friends.  Bill attended Haystack Mountain School of Arts and Crafts to learn from Heike Seppa the raising technique he uses to make his flexible gold cuffs.

SAM_7741.jpg

Being a creative person, Bill took his new skills to design and fabricate a gold cuff that won an award for American goldsmithing in 1987.  Together they created a line of wearable gold jewelry that would be sold in some of the finest galleries and jewelry stores in America.

26 years later, the kids are grown and Lynda and Bill run a beautiful American made fine art and craft gallery in Center Lovell.  The jewelry line has expanded to include sterling silver as seen on Carley, their daughter.   Lynda has been busy stringing tourmaline and other gemstone beads and pearls into lovely.

They specialize in recycling old gold into new pieces that can be worn and enjoyed for generations to come.   You can bring your old gold to the Gallery and recycle it into something that you can wear everyday.  Remembering the person who maybe worn it as a wedding band or earrings before you and thinking about who may wear it in the future.
