Harvest Gold Gallery is overjoyed to host Hillary Dow, an accomplished mother, business woman, and artist, as our second Plein Air Artist of the summer! We encourage you to come to 1082 Main Street, Center Lovell, Maine, on Saturday, July 18, at 10 AM, to watch Hillary’s beautiful artwork take form in front of a wonderful view! It is completely free and all are welcome!
As one of the newest artists at Harvest Gold Gallery, Hillary Dow, is a one-of-a-kind addition to the local art scene. After receiving an advanced business degree, Hillary spent two decades successfully building an independent marketing consultancy. Nevertheless, her education experience isn’t limited to marketing; she is also a formally trained illustrator. Hillary began gravitating towards her love for fine arts as she mastered the technique of needle-felting. She managed to combine her profession with her passions by creating a family run publishing business called Binding Tales. Today, she has written, illustrated, and published four extraordinary children’s books. The love and time Hillary puts into her work gives every art piece a certain liveliness and beauty! The illustrations are all made by felting, a unique and tedious art method. Every image requires meticulous focus, and takes her fifteen to twenty-five hours to complete. Furthermore, most of her characters are inspired by her children and other family members. Her frequent visits to schools across Maine to teach children about writing, illustrating, and publishing exhibits her passion and devotion.
