Alanna's favorite paintings

Hey! My name is Alanna and I have just recently started working at Harvest Gold Gallery. I am very excited to be surrounded by all of this beautiful artwork as well as learn more about all of the diverse artists and their varying styles.

The first artist that caught my eye was Gay Freeborn. Gay has a variety of beautiful paintings throughout the store and the one that specifically stood out to me as my favorites was "Serious Business" due to the attention to detail showcased in the water coming off of the dog and turning into droplets.

Another picture that I found to be one of my favorites is called "Fox" and was painted by Sandy Crowell. This piece is interesting because of the vibrant colors used for the foxes coat in contrast to the green grass. The dark areas around the outside of the painting also help to draw the attention inward showcasing the beauty of the foxes face.

The last painting I chose was painted by Varvara Harmon and is called "Sunset Over Mt. Madison & Adams" and captures a beautiful sunset over the mountains. What stood out to me about this painting is the fog between the mountains in the distance and how it makes them look like they are floating. I also really like how the colors of the trees slowly fade from a dark green into a light blue to match the blue shade of the mountains in the distance.

Jeanne Ouellette Captures Water in Oil Paintings

As the warmth of June begins to seep its way into the air, our desire to slip into cooling water transpires. Jeanne Ouellette, oil landscape painter, depicts water in such a rejuvenating way that you can feel the crisp water by merely looking at her works.

Through use of color and texture, "Woodland Stream" depicts the refreshing sight of a chilling stream surrounded by nature- framed by trees and stones. Click on the pictures to learn more about these works!

"Vernal Pool" is a beautiful portrayal of a seasonal phenomenon- Ouellette captures the reflection and surroundings of a vernal pool, creating a timeless work of a fleeting view.

Utilizing hues of pink and green against slate of costal stone, "Rugged Coast" exhibits the picture of the serene coastline. This tranquil work is a refreshing sight for anyone that looks upon it. Come see Jeanne Ouellette's work and more at Harvest Gold Gallery!

New Rebecca Paintings!

Recently at Harvest Gold, Rebecca Klementovich sent in some gorgeous new paintings! One of the first abstract artists to show at Harvest Gold, Klementovich seeks to introduce a new color palette and style of painting to New England that can challenge the hold that traditional schools have on the region. Her bright colors and the motion that can be seen through her strong brush strokes seek to represent the natural rhythm and vibrancy that can be seen in the mountains and trees all around us.

By painting with loud, vivid colors, along with painting and showing in outdoor locations that many people feel more comfortable in than a traditional gallery space, Klementovich seeks to capture the attention of the public and encourage other women to pursue their passions.

The first of these new paintings is "Visions of Kezar Lake" a beautiful landscape painting that shows the view of Kezar Lake in Lovell!

The second of the new paintings is known as "Moon, Plains and You", a beautiful showcase of the winter season. Leaves are on the ground, but green is beginning to peak through, with the moonlight shining above.

The final painting in this newest batch is known as "Let's Work Among the Leaves", a very vibrant and colorful painting that shows the skill Rebecca showcases in her painting. Come see these paintings and more at the gallery!

Rainy Paintings!

With winter coming to an end and spring on the horizon, rather than snow, rain seems to be pouring from the Maine skies this time of year! In light of the increased downpours, we would like to show some seasonal spring paintings!

"Afternoon Rain" by Kristen Dill shows the beauty of the sky after it rains, when the sunlight peaks through the clouds again.

"Pine Tree on Water (Kancamagus Spring)" by Gwen Nagel shows the view of the water near the shore. Not relying on the color green as much, but nonetheless captivates the feeling of spring.

"Water Iris" by Mary Ellen Serina shows a beautiful iris, a very prominent symbol for spring. It's a simple showcase of the flower but conveys all the emotion springtime brings.

Lastly, we have "Chickens in Springtime" by Sandy Crowell, which depicts chickens in a springtime field. This piece in particular reminds us of times to look forward to, with vast green fields filled with animals. Come see more works at Harvest Gold Gallery!

Stringing Beads Here at Harvest Gold!

Today's project at Harvest Gold was stringing beads to create some beautiful new necklaces! Amethyst and Aquamarine were the primary gemstones being used today, Amethyst being February's birthstone and Aquamarine being March's. In certain cultures, Amethyst means healing, calmness, and wisdom. Aquamarine, on the other hand, symbolize tranquility, serenity, and calmness.

Stringing pearls is a tedious but fun and rewarding task! If you put your mind to it, you can make quite a lot of beautiful necklaces! These necklaces will soon be put onto the website, so keep an eye open for them!

25th Anniversary of Harvest Gold Gallery!

This year is Lynda and Bill's 25th year of opening Harvest Gold Gallery! 35 years ago, Lynda and Bill opened Harvest Gold Jewelry, but it never became a gallery until 10 years later, showcasing handmade jewelry as well as featured local Maine artists! they found the perfect location nestled in Center Lovell, and have since been appraised for the beautiful view inside and out!

"Hard to say which is better: the gold jewelry and other fine craftwork inside the gallery or the views outside over Kezar Lake to the mountains." - Yankee Magazine

We here at Harvest Gold Gallery are so happy that we have been able to supply our local customers with the most pristine pieces of fine art possible! Here's to many more years of Harvest Gold Gallery! Thank you!
