The lake is amazing in the winter months. Wind swept snow buries the slush underneath. Be careful if you venture out on the lake. Even though there is a foot or more of ice between the ice and snow a layer of slush can form when it's warm (over 32!).
Snow shoes work well for adventures out back (down to the lake). As long as you are well bundled you can stay out and enjoy the sunshine in the woods. Up hill is always warmer!
