This stunning round box was hand turned on a Rose Engine lathe here in Maine. The box stands at 4 1/2" high (including finial), and the inner diameter is 3 3/4".
"I've gotten to the age where more and more of my 'friends' are being cremated. My observation is that the urn is not intended to contain ALL of the remains but just a token. There was a recent exhibit of urns at the Messler Gallery in Rockland. The show was titled: 'Boxes to Die For.' There were NO urns big enough to contain the remains of an entire body. An urn to contain all of the remains needs to have enough space for one cubic inch per pound of body weight. That said: my urns can be used to hold the remains of a human or a pet." - Bill Housley
