Arabica Coffee Company was founded in 1995 on Free Street in Portland, Maine. Cathy Rasco, founder and owner, was on a mission to serve Portland high-quality coffee and espresso in a relaxed and comfortable setting. After more than 10 years of building a reputation as one of the premiere coffee houses in Portland, Cathy was able to open a second location along the waterfront in Portland.
At Commercial Street, Cathy expanded Arabica’s operations to include a from-scratch bakery, a full kitchen, and a custom-built small-batch coffee roaster from US Roaster Corp.
We source only the highest quality green arabica coffee beans from around the world, with a special emphasis on sustainably grown and ethically harvested varietals. We then roast those beans in small batches, carefully controlling temperature and roasting time to perfectly compliment the natural flavors and characteristics of each individual varietal. After the beans have a chance to rest and “degas” (pronounced dee-gas), they are packaged and ready to brew!
