For the past several years Ann has been painting in Florida and in Maine; using the varied landscapes and images that inspire her. Studies with John Whalley, Libit Jones and Bill Gallen have helped her to find her personal point of view. Ann’s paintings are about color and design. The shapes and colors that she chooses are directly related to either an unconventional view of a familiar object or place or an abstraction of that place. The abstracts are totally unplanned and change and develop as they are painted. The realistic images, on the other hand, are planned from photographs that she crops and zooms in on to search for details. Ann likes to change mediums so she has recently been working with acrylics and watercolors because of their versatility. She creates both beautiful depth of color and delicate lines and textures.
